Music Ministry

The Music Ministry of First Presbyterian Church believes that music is a gift from God.  From its inception, "when the morning stars sang together and all the heavenly beings shouted for joy" (Job 38:7), to its consummation, when "every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them will sing to the Lamb on the throne” (Rev. 5:13) – creation is musical.

Our Music Ministry team works very diligently to provide quality music to not only support, but also enhance your worship experience. We also strive to provide opportunities for a variety of age groups, along with offering a diversity of musical styles.

Your participation in one of the following ensembles could provide you with an opportunity to share your God given musical gifts.

ADULT CHOIR

Rehearsals: Thursdays, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Our Adult Choir provides music for the 11:00 a.m. worship service and sings a variety of music from classical to Spirituals to contemporary songs. We are currently seeking members with the only prerequisite being a love of praising God with your voice. The Choir IS OPEN TO YOUTH (grades 7- 12) who'd like to participate. We rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7:00 -8:30 p.m. and vacation during the summer months.

SONRISE PRAISE BAND

Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

The SonRise Praise Band provides music for the 8:30 a.m. worship service and performs a variety of contemporary Christian music, as well as new arrangements of many of our favorite hymns. Currently we have the personnel needed to provide music for worship every Sunday, but would be interested in a full-time keyboard player, possibly additional vocalists, and substitute players on all the instruments (drums, guitar, bass and congas). These positions would be filled through an audition with the Director of Music.

MEN OF NOTE

Rehearsals: Tuesday evenings

The Men of Note is a vocal quartet, and they provide music for the 11:00 a.m. worship service on a monthly basis, and also sing for events outside the church on a regular basis. As a generalization, they perform a variety of old and new gospel style songs. Currently, they have no personnel needs; but should such a need arise, an audition would be required.

For further information on any of these opportunities, please contact the Director of Music, Patti Loyd, at the church office.

Remember to always keep a song in your heart.
